mbc History

1918- A group of highly dedicated Christians came together to form a church. With love for the Lord and a commitment to His will, they called it Manchaca Baptist Church. In the very beginning, it was mostly women and their children and met in the Methodist Church once a month, but it grew and flourished in His Name.

1925- The wooden building used as the first Sanctuary was built. The land was purchased for $75 and the building completed for $1,800.

1939- MBC's Rev, L. R. Cole led a revival and 39 professions of faith were made (a huge number for the size of the church and community).

1960- Ground was broken for new red brick church building and the first service was held in 1961.

1986- A 20,000 sqft Family Life Center was build just off of FM 1626. The church size had doubled to 650 since 1981.

1995- As the community and church experienced tremendous growth, the Lord led MBC to purchase a 15-acre tract which the named "The Promiseland" at Lowden Lane and FM 1626. Plans were drawn for a new facility.

1999- Construction of the new building started.

2001- On May 24, 6-weeks before the move in date, construction was near completion a fire broke out and destroyed the new Sanctuary and the remaining structure suffered extensive smoke and water damage.

2002- Construction to rebuild Sanctuary began.

2004- The church held it's first worship service in the new building.

2008- Gymnasium, large commercial kitchen, and youth room was built.

2018- Manchaca turns 100 years old.

That's 100 years of God using MBC to serve and love the community and the people in it. That's 100 years of ups and downs in the church and the community. That's 100 years of sharing the Good News of Jesus and being light to this world. So, come celebrate 100 years with us and here's to 100 more years of Jesus using MBC in the community and for the community!
